As you may already know, we entered into April with a mission to help our community in Africa during this difficult time.
We have been running an ongoing sale whereby all the proceeds are donated to the most vulnerable families and individuals affected by the virus in Africa.
This initiative has helped those who risk facing dehydration and starvation as a result of the lockdown measures.
There have been many cases we feel overwhelmed to be a part of and cannot express our gratitude for you; our incredible customers who have made this mission possible.
We want to show you how your support is influencing those in need in Africa right now - and we believe this case will fill you with a whirlwind of emotions as it did for us.
Wings of Hope
Wings of Hope is a charitable children's home involved with the rescue of unsupported pregnant teenage girls, victims of rape and child sexual abuse aged 11-17 years.
With their mission of "Empowering girls to greater heights", this beautiful home has successfully helped keep girls and their children safe from harm, complete their education and become independent.
Mercy has been at Wings of Hope for almost five years now, and this is what she has to say about how the home and how living here has changed her life and given her hope:
A Letter From Mercy
You can view a typed version of Mercy's letter at the bottom of this post, but here is just a snippet that brought tears to our eyes...
"I thank my love, God for listening in hearing my prayer for help. I really prayed and fasted for almost two to three days without food, asking God to send an angel to rescue me and indeed I have seen God's love in my life".
Wings of Hope has allowed Mercy to go back to school and move closer towards her dream of completing further studies and getting a great job. As a result of being taken under by this nurturing home, she is able to see a bright future despite the hardships of her past.
It is incredibly moving and inspiring to read how this wonderful charity has impacted the life of so many girls including Mercy - and to know that more lives can be changed through support and help from us all.
Again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to help Wings of Hope, along with an additional 2,504 donations that have been made so far.
We will continue to share stories so you are able to see the impact you're making towards the community in Africa.
Here is a typed version of Mercy's letter:
"Wings of Hope is a home of love, peace and care. It has helped so many girls who have gone through rape cases. Wings of Hope is a mother to so many girls outside there. Mama wings gave me the golden opportunity to go back to school and continue with my studies. I came to Mama Wing because I needed help, love and care. I learned about Wings of Hope through a certain social worker who went to the chief. He talked to the chief and the chief knew more about Wings of Hope.
She took me to the chief where I got to meet the director of Wings of Hope. When I saw her, tingles of hope ran up and down my spine. When I got to Wings of Hope I was happy as a lark that my life was not going to be miserable again. I was taken to school and worked very hard and am still working hard.
I have been at Wings of Hope for almost five years from 2016. And I have really seen a lot of change. I thank my love, God for listening in hearing my prayer for help. I really prayed and fasted for almost two to three days without food, asking God to send an angel to rescue me and indeed I have seen God's love in my life.
My dream and my plan is to achieve my goal full through God's direction. I hope to get a good grade in school that will enable me to get a good secondary school to continue with further studies. To achieve all my goals and get a sweet job. I want to use the stones that my enemies threw at me to build my foundations. My past does not define me, what defines me is the bright future ahead of me. All I went through was to make my future become better."
