Edges Snatched! Octavia Spencer To Play Madam C.J. Walker

Legend meets legend as Octavia Spencer is set to play haircare mogul Madam C.J. Walker in a Netflix series. Netflix announced that the Oscar-winning actress was tapped to star as the first African American self-made millionaire on Sunday. LeBron James - yes, NBA star LeBron James - is on board to produce the show through his production company, SpringHill Entertainment.

Madam C.J. Walker's story is really an inspirational one that needs to be told! She rose from poverty as the daughter of former slaves who became farm laborers in 1867, and became a multi-millionaire from her game-changing hair products.

Her legacy lives on! Madam CJ Walker Beauty Culture is still going strong, and is one of our favorites for afro curly and natural hair. The series will be based on the biography of Madam C.J. Walker 'On Her Own Ground', written by A'Lelia Bundles. Spencer is also one of the show's assistant producers.

After an Oscar for 'The Help', a second nomination for 'Hidden Figures' and another nomination for 'The Shape of Water', could Octavia Spencer snag an Emmy? No word on when the series out yet, but we can't wait to watch!
