These Black Panther Stars Are Making A TV Show

Lupita Nyong'o has teamed up with her fellow 'Black Panther' castmate Danai Gurira to bring a novel by Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie of 'Half of a Yellow Sun' fame to TV.

The dynamic duo have joined forces to produce a mini-series of Adiche's 2013 novel 'Americanah', which chronicles the story of a young Nigerian woman who moves to the United States to attend college.

It was reported that Lupita bought the rights way back in 2014, and will play the protagonist, Ifemelu. Danai Gurira will adapt the novel for television. The two were spotted on vacation in Lagos last month, where the project is purported to be filmed.

David Oyelowo will star alongside Lupita, and Brad Pitt is signed up to produce 'Americanah'. Lupita recently reaffirmed her support for Africans being unafraid to tell their own stories.

Speaking at The Tribeca Film Festival, the actress expressed the importance of 'reinvigorating' African stories, and showing "how global [African] culture can be."

There's no confirmed airdate yet, but we're so excited! Hopefully Lupita and Danai will still have time to star in the possible 'Black Panther' spin-off.
