'Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.'

We are so excited for you all to meet Markele DeJa'nae. A hair and beauty blogger from Dallas, Texas, Markele has amassed a following on social media through posting tutorials and sharing her tips with the world.

Grass-fields sat down with Markele to find out what inspires her to keep working hard, her vision, and what advice she has for any of you aspiring bloggers out there.

How long have you been blogging?

I’ve been blogging for 2 years going on 3.

What's your favorite topic to blog about?

My favorite topic is beauty products. I feel as if you can express yourself in so many different ways through it!

What is your vision?

The vision for my page is to show the world what TRUE beauty really means. The physical side of beauty is just a small part of what makes us truly beautiful. True beauty should be based on an individual’s inner qualities.

How do you hope to inspire people?

I hope to inspire people to embrace their uniqueness, be themselves and to love themselves as they are! God created each one of us differently and that’s what makes us beautiful. Be who you are, the way God created you!

Describe yourself in three words

Three words that describe me are: goofy, caring and unique!

Who would play you in a movie about your life and why?

Jurnee Bell would be perfect to play me in a movie because of her goofy personality.

What motto do you live by?

“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” This statement resonates with me because it motivated me and is ultimately the reason I continue to make progress in the beauty blogger industry. I live by this motto and also use it as my tagline.

How has your heritage or cultural background influenced what you blog about?

My cultural background taught me to be accepting of all people, which is why I use my page to compel others to love themselves and others no matter what.

Tell us your favorite holiday destination and why

My holiday destination would be Cali! The weather is always nice!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself hopefully blogging full-time, traveling while living my best life and meeting new people and still making a impact on people’s lives!

If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?

I would have dinner with Jesus because he’s my hero.

What have you learned from being a blogger?

I’ve learned that becoming who you really want to be as a blogger takes time. It’s definitely not easy as people make it seem. It’s a roller coaster ride that you may not be prepared for, but if it’s something you really want you’ll put in the hard work to achieve it!

What advice would you give to someone wanting to get started in blogging?

If you feel that God is calling you to be a blogger then do it! Just start! Find your niche! Believe in yourself, even when things get tough. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Everyone has to start somewhere. Us bloggers started at the beginning, we all didn’t get to where we are overnight.

Any final words of encouragement for our Grass-fields family out there?

Stand firm in what you believe and believe in what you stand for! Even if that means standing alone!

We just love her! Want more? Take a look at Markele's Instagram and YouTube for natural hair and make up tutorials.
