Get Inspired with our Nigerian Collection
Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll be more than aware that we have recently started production in Nigeria! This has been a dream of ours for a while, so it's all very exciting at Grass-fields HQ right now.
Amidst all the madness, we managed to have a sit-down with the design team to chat all things fashion, and learn a little about how this collection was created.
What was the inspiration for this collection?
We base part of our influence off customer feedback, and we know that a lot of our customers want to make a statement with their outfits. So for this collection, a lot of the focus was on intricate details, and overall femininity. We looked at our most popular pieces over the summer months, and evolved them into more modest, autumnal pieces.
What drew you to these patterns in particular?
The factory in Nigeria where we're producing these designs actually send over the fabric options - over 100! - and we pick our favourites from them. Narrowing them down has been very hard, but we generally went for the most bold and beautiful. A lot of our designs are quite detailed, so we have to ensure that the fabrics don't detract from that too much.
Were there any difficulties in production?
Surprisingly not! The factory we're working with are very thorough. They have sent us samples throughout the process, and have generally exceeded our expectations with manufacturing.
What is your favourite piece from the collection?
We all have different preferences, but we think the gathered shirt dress from the first collection is gorgeous - it's very flattering, and all the intricate details should make it a standout piece.
The matching sets are also great - very versatile, very feminine, and they look incredible on all sizes!
Who would you say this collection is for?
It's typical to say, but we really feel there is a mixture of styles for every woman! There is work-wear, statement occasion-wear, more every-day styles... we have blazers, matching sets, dresses, skirts - there is truly something for everyone.
Due to the striking fabric used, we can confidently say this is for women who like to express themselves through their personal style.
Will there be future Nigerian designs?
Of course! We are currently working on some new designs with the Nigerian team. For the next set of designs, we are pushing ourselves to create more individual, creative pieces, and really give the customers something innovative that they have not yet seen before from us.
