The premiere for Black Panther has held in Los Angeles Monday night, and it was everything. The stars and some of our faves hit the red carpet to mark this cinematic celebration of Afrofuturism and unapologetic blackness.
Sadly, it's a couple more weeks until we can all go and see Black Panther - but the looks at the premiere were a sight to see and then some.
This was the movie premiere for Marvel's first black superhero, of course people turned the hell up. We love fashion - shocking, right? - so here are some of our favourite looks from the Black Panther premiere.
Lupita giving us African queen vibes
You know Lupita was not going to keep it low-key. The Oscar-winner and all-round inspiration Lupita Nyong'o gave us serious monarchical vibes rocking royal purple Versace. Complete with a dazzling jewelry display, Lupita showed her true queenery at the premiere last nignt. Slay queen!
Chadwick's outfit is fit for a king
Chadwick Boseman stars as King T'Chilla, super hero alias Black Panther, and he really brought his royal a-game to the premiere. Dressed up in black and gold, Chadwick looks every inch the king, and is serving some serious royal vibes in Emporio Armani. We're with Vogue on this one. Long live the king!
Janelle Monáe DID THAT
Don't you just love Janelle Monáe? Singer, actress, activist, and all round quirky queen Janelle took it up a notch and actually wore a crown to the Black Panther premiere. So it may be made out of fabric rather than gold, but it's still regal as hell! Paired with her slick black gown, and a magnificent necklace channelling the Motherland, Janelle Monáe simply slays.
Danai is perfect in pink
Starring as Okoye, Danai was determined to bring some of that Wakandan magic to the red carpet. And did she! Looking perfect in pink, the Zimbabwean-American icon donned Viktor and Rolf and stunning jewelry from Neil Lane.
Daniel Kaluuya's nod to his heritage
Fresh from being nominated for an Oscar for his starring role in 'Get Out', Daniel Kaluuya, who plays W'Kabi in 'Black Panther', decided to go back to his roots for his premiere look, and we love it! British actor Daniel nodded to his Ugandan ancestry, donning a fresh white kanzu and a burgundy jacket for the red carpet.
African-inspired looks were out in full force! These actors served unapologetic blackness and slayed in the process.
Welp. Our wigs are in Wakanda now.
