It's summertime and the living is easy! A whole new world of possibilities seems to open up once the sun is shining. Trips to the beach, nice walks in the city, or even just relaxing in the garden to your favorite music, these are the things summer is made for. If you want to combine a love for music, all things African, and getting that summer glow, one of these festivals could be just the ticket. Don't forget to put on some stunning African print to turn up your festival 'fit though!

Starting back in 1992 with a few small venues, Africa Oye has since exploded into a major festival and cultural event. Taking over Liverpool's Sefton Park for a weekend, the free festival - yes, free - is the largest African cultural celebration in the UK. This year's event was held on the 16th and 17th of June, with Ghanaian musician Rocky Dawuni as one of the headliners. Thankfully the notorious English weather was kept at bay with sunny conditions all weekend! The dates for 2019 haven't been revealed yet, but keep an eye on their website for updates and to find out who will be performing.

We hope you all had an amazing Oyé weekend! Once again you proved to us why you're the best festival audience in the world. If you had a great time and want to support the festival into next year and beyond, we would hugely appreciate any donations via our Just Text Giving service! To donate £1 text: 'DYYV03 £1' to 70070 Or change the £1 to any amount you desire! Africa Oyé is a registered charity and all proceeds are reinvested into the organisation (please ask the bill payer's permission). Thank you for your support! We saw Afropunk's first festival in Africa go big for the culture in Johannesburg, South Africa earlier this year. Once again the festival touched down in another great city, being held in Paris on 14-15th July. With headliners like SZA, Damien Marley, and Wizkid, make sure you find out when it is coming to a city near you!
