The first Black Panther movie is going to be released on February 16th and its a pretty big deal. Marvel's first black super hero, Black Panther, hails from Wakanda, a futuristic nation nestled deep in Africa, home to out-of-this world technology. Based on the Marvel comics in which the character first appeared in 1966, the upcoming movie will be a fitting tribute to black culture and heritage.
Starring Chadwick Boseman as T'Chilla and Black Panther, the King of Wakanda, the movie is graced with black stars such as Michael B. Jordan, Academy Award winner and all round legend Lupita Nyong'o, and Daniel Kaluuya of 'Get Out' and Black Mirror fame.
Some images of the scenes have been making the rounds online, and they look fantastic!
It's safe to say, we're all pretty excited about it! Seeing some leading black actors and actresses repping Afrofuturism and black culture, with a strong connection to African heritage. It may be a fantasy film, but representation is important! We're sure you've already seen the trailer, but here it is again!
As if we weren't excited enough already, it has been announced that Kendrick Lamar is producing Black Panther's official soundtrack. So far, everyone is keeping quiet about who is going to be on it.
Luckily, we have one song so far, a collab between Kendrick and SZA appropriately called 'All The Stars'. If this is just what one song sounds like, we can't wait to hear the rest of the soundtrack! Check it out below.
We don't have a say in it, but if we did, we'd love to see some of our favourites on there like Khalid, IAMDDB, and Lil Simz, just to name a few.
Who do you hope makes it onto Kendrick's Black Panther soundtrack? Let us know below and on Twitter, it would be great to hear what you guys think!
